Footy Fundraiser

The World Cup might be over, but football season isn't. Swap the couch for the pitch and join the New Zealand music industry for the return of the annual MusicHelps Footy Fundraiser.

The MusicHelps Footy Fundraiser Returns to Mt Smart Stadium - Arena 2

The final whistle has blown on the Football World Cup, you've spent the last month yelling at the ref from your couch, and now it's your turn to get on the pitch.

The annual MusicHelps Footy Fundraiser is back, bringing together Aotearoa's music community for a day of football, fundraising and the kind of healthy rivalry that only exists between record labels, promoters and venues.

On Friday 2 October, musicians, managers, promoters, record labels, venues, media, production crew and music lovers will lace up their boots and head to Mt Smart Stadium's Arena 2 for the much-loved seven-a-side tournament.

Last year, 14 teams battled it out for the coveted F.F. Shield, with bragging rights, spectacular goals, dubious tackles and plenty of laughs along the way. Whether you're a seasoned footballer or haven't kicked a ball since school, all teams are welcome. Bring your workmates, your bandmates or your backstage crew and prepare for a day of friendly competition, sideline banter and supporting a cause that gives back to our music community.

Every dollar raised helps MusicHelps continue supporting the people who make music happen across Aotearoa.

"I grew up playing football, and I grew up listening to music. Both of these pastimes are vastly different, but they both brought and still bring a level of catharsis for me personally. I get nothing but crystal clear clarity as to why we can celebrate and support the work of MusicHelps via a seven-a-side football tournament. The synergy between the two goes hand in hand. Carmel and her team deserve all the support we can bring as a community. If this is the small part I can play via two worlds that I love, I am all in!"

– Dave Munro, Eccles Entertainment

"Everyone knows music and football are the two cores of my world. Over the last few years, I've run into so many people that cross this gap just as I do. What started as a tongue-in-cheek competition between major promoters has grown into one of my favourite days on the calendar. Any opportunity I have to support MusicHelps is one I will take. They've helped me when I've needed it many times, and our music industry needs the work they are doing."
