For the Sake of the Song
A Remarkable Union of Three Australian Songwriting Giants Sara Storer * Shane Howard * Shane Nicholson
Three of Australia’s most respected and influential singer-songwriters — Sara Storer, Shane Howard and Shane Nicholson — will join forces in an extraordinary live collaboration, celebrating the craft, power and legacy of Australian songwriting. This rare event brings together three distinct voices whose songs have shaped the nation’s cultural landscape across generations.
Shane Howard AM, revered as a “respected senior statesman” of Australian music, continues to inspire with a career spanning more than four decades. From Parliament House to Uluru, campfires to concert halls, Howard’s songs have long been a voice for justice and country. His iconic anthem Solid Rock, Sacred Ground ,“lit a fire for the rights of Aboriginal people… that hasn’t gone out,” and its legacy is cemented in the NFSA’s Sounds of Australia. With 14 solo albums, international collaborations, major awards and a lifetime of advocacy, Howard brings unmatched depth, poetry and purpose to this collaboration.
ARIA and multi-Golden Guitar winner Shane Nicholson adds his own formidable artistry. With 11 albums and a reputation as “one of the country’s finest songwriters” (Rhythms Magazine), Nicholson continues to evolve creatively: “I feel like I am constantly finding a new voice, a new story.” His acclaimed album Living in Colour reinforced his status as one of Australia’s most insightful and emotionally resonant storytellers.
Beloved singer-songwriter Sara Storer rounds out this exceptional trio. With 22 Golden Guitar Awards, an ARIA win and universal praise for her vivid, heartfelt depictions of rural life — described by Lee Kernaghan as painting “the spirit of the bush with breathtaking beauty” — Storer brings lyrical honesty and vocal authenticity. Her new album Worth Your Love continues her tradition of songs that resonate deeply with audiences nationwide.
Together on stage, these three celebrated artists combine to create unique moments and a magic beyond the sum of the parts. This concert promises to be an unforgettable night of storytelling, musicianship and authentic songs that speak to Australia’s heart. This collaboration is a rare convergence of voices that have defined, and continue to define, the soundtrack of the nation.
